We’ve done it! We’re through to the UK finals of the National Training Awards!

At a high profile awards ceremony last week our Review Salon Group was named as the best small employer in the National Training Awards 2012 South Central region for our ‘outstanding commitment to training.’

We beat off tough competition from dozens of other entrants representing many other business sectors to win this prestigious award run by the National Apprenticeship Service and sponsored by City & Guilds.

And the win means we’re now off to the nail-biting national finals at the NEC in Birmingham on 14^th November.

Review owners Paul and Elaine are both ‘over the moon.’ A delighted Paul said: “This award is a great honour and our success is a testament to the commitment of our staff. It’s a very exciting time and we’re really looking forward to the national finals next month.”

And Elaine, who’s in charge of the company’s training scheme, added: “The standard of the NTA is very high so to win this regional award is a fantastic tribute to our team’s hard work.

“Providing thorough and professional apprenticeship training is part of our company ethos at Review and we all take real pride in it. This is a great reflection on our team and we are all absolutely over the moon.”

As finalists in the BHBA Training Award category of this prestigious event, we joined hundreds of hairdressers from all over the UK for a champagne reception hosted by Dan Lobb at the Lancaster Hotel in London this month, (September.)

Directors Paul Hawes and Elaine Armitage, plus 10 of our team celebrated in style and declared the awards ‘a night to remember’. Paul said: “We were delighted to get through to the finals and it was a real honour to have a place at what was a superb awards night that we all thoroughly enjoyed.”

Elaine, who’s in charge of our training scheme, added: “Being an award finalist is a huge achievement in itself and a great reflection on the hard work and dedication of our team here. It was a fantastic night that we will all remember.”

The British Hairdressing Business Awards are promoted by the magazine Hairdressers Journal and sponsored by Schwarzkopf.

Thanks to our talented team of trainers who teach our trainees about all things hair, we’ve been shortlisted as a South Central Finalist in the small employer category in these highly respected awards.

And we’re not just competing against other hairdressers and salons – the NTA, sponsored by City & Guilds, choose ‘the best of the best’ from across all business sectors in the UK.

On October 3^rd, we will be joining judges and organisers at a ‘special gathering of recognition’ to mark our commitment to our in-house hairdressers’ training scheme.

This latest finalist success comes just a few weeks after we heard the great news that we are also through to the finals of the National Hairdressing Business Awards this month. So many awards, so little time!

A massive well done and thank you to our Internal Verifier Trish Mosely and to all our salon educators for their hard work and dedication.

We’ve been selected by a judging panel of key independent hairdresser gurus for a place in the national finals of the BHBA Training Award category – sponsored by Wella Professionals.

And in September we’re off to London to join other hairdressing finalists at a sparkling champagne reception and awards evening hosted by a celebrity presenter.

“We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to be through to the finals of the British Hairdressing Awards which, within this industry, really are the crème de la crème.

We are very committed to our in-house apprenticeship scheme and take real pride in the quality of training we provide at our hair salons. Our trainees get high levels of individual attention and their development plans are tailor-made and ongoing.

We can’t wait to take our seat at the awards ceremony in September – it’s a great reflection on the dedication and hard work put in by our trainers and staff.”

Every year our three Review hair salons in Waterlooville, Petersfield and Southsea recruit and train up to ten new apprentices who are all tutored by us at our Waterlooville salon in London Road.

We have our own Internal Verifier, Trish Mosely Cert Ed, who delivers theory-based training and coaches our apprentices weekly in theoretical elements of hairdressing, taking them up to National Vocational Qualification Levels 2 and 3. We also have seven salon educators who support and supervise the trainees in their practical hairdressing and salon work.

Our Review salon group is a City & Guilds accredited training centre and is a ‘Gold Star’ salon with the Fellowship of British Hairdressing.
